The Basics

An Old Fashioned is a popular drink of Wisconsin. Most people actually inadvertently call this delicious drink an "Old Fashion". Nonetheless, this drink is dear to most Wisconsinites.

In Wisconsin, the drink is served with different recipes based on the bar and the drinker's preferences. I have heard people order this drink with brandy, whiskey, Southern Comfort and even gin. A common recipe for this drink is as follows:

INGREDIENTS
2 dashes aromatic bitters
½ tsp sugar dissolved with water and bitters
1½ oz of bourbon
1 cherry
1 orange slice
1 lemon wedge

INSTRUCTIONS
Fill glass with ice. Add cherry, orange slice, and lemon wedge. Pour in bourbon. Serve in a rocks glass over ice.

Look for future posts on the VERY interesting history of this drink and other Wisconsin traditions when it comes to the drink.
