Bee Hive Inn

The Bee Hive Inn is the bar that I pass twice a day, 4-5 times a week for the past 2 years. On Fridays, the parking lot is always packed and on other week days, there is always several cars parked in the small lot. The bar is in the middle of nowhere, but is it a hidden gem?

My stop was an impromptu, stalking event. A friend checked into the bar on FourSquare, which is an automatic invite to crash the party… well, in my opinion. It was just after 5 o’clock when I entered the worn down establishment. I was pleasantly surprised at how bright it was on the inside, which I think is unique to the bar-world and was not as dirty as one might expect, considering the exterior.

I ordered the usual, brandy old fashioned sour. The bartender first filled the highball with ice, followed by a hefty 2 shots of Aristocrat, 4 dashes of bitters, a squirt of simple syrup and added a splash of soda. I was asked if I wanted cherries or olives, and I received 2 olives. The drink was $4.

There is not much to review as this drink was seriously lacking in the flavor department. There was no depth or aromatics to the drink. It tasted like sugar water, only Edgar would approve (Men in Black reference). Unfortunately, I’ve had worse old fashioneds. So, considering I got 2 shots, I will give this drink a 2-olive rating.

Rating (out of 5 olives)
